Which cutter or plier should I buy?

Today we're gonna breakdown some of the brands and types of cutters and pliers we sell here at Concorde Solder. 

We've got a number of high quality brands here at Concorde Solder, we're an authorized distributor so all of these are authentic product straight from these well known manufacturers.

Plato

Plato is a well known brand of soldering accessories and products, under the umbrella of Techspray. Known for their quality products, we offer two types of cutters. 

Plato 170

a micro cutter that is perfect for delicate and hard to reach areas, which come up often in electronic assembly. This is an easy to use, lightweight, durable, and reliable cutter that can be used for cutting lead and wire up to 18 SWG. 

Plato 1755

this is a heavy duty cutter designed for heavy gauge wire, co-ax, Kovar, and nickel. Still sleek and light weight, these cutters pack a big punch in a small package. They come with spring back action for extra ease of use. 

Both these cutters utilize a shear cutting method that reduces user effort and creates a flush cut every time. 

Xuron

Xuron is an American Manufacturer of ergonomic, electronics grade hand tools for a wide range of uses including electronics, craft and hobby, jewelry and more. Located in Saco, Maine, all Xuron products and manufactured right here in the U.S.A.

Here at Concorde Solder we sell a lot of different Xuron Products:

496

These are split ring pliers designed in large part for jewelry and crafting, but can be used for a variety of different functions beyond that. The idea here is that the curved catch tip holds the ring open to make installing clasps and charms easier. 

450S

These are precise, tweezer nosed pliers that can get into tight spots. The serrated nose is effective for getting a firm grip on the item you're holding.

450AS

Uses the tweezer nose as the 450 S but the nose isn't serrated for this one. However, the handles are antistatic ( which is what the AS stands for) so if you are using these for projects that are static sensitive, these are effective. 

450BN

Similar to the others in the 450 line, this is a needle nose plier with a very specific distinction, these pliers come with bent noses. This allows for improved sightline when working on delicate projects.

170-II

This is xurons micro shear cutter is an ergonomic, small cutter designed for small spaces and cuts wire up to 18 AWG soft wire. 

2175B

This is a cutter designed more specifically for model railroaders. These cutters leave clean square cuts on brass and nickel silver track in sizes HO. N and Z. 

2193

This is a heavy duty wire cutter for thinks like memory wire or other hard wires. Cuts wire up to .04" diameter. 

Xcelite

Xcelite is a subsidiary brand of Weller, a well known and established manufacturer of soldering products. They've been around forever and make great stuff and the cutters Xcelite produces are of top quality. 

170MN

This is Xcelite's general purpose shear cutter, it cuts softwire up to 20 AWG and gives you a nice flush cut. It's compact and durable and can be used in tight spaces making it perfect for electrical work. 

S1415JSNN

A 5" Tapered Relieved Head Diagonal Cutter, the tapered head allows for easy access to normally inaccessible areas. Produces a flush cut. For use in limited access areas

S475JSNN

A 5" Tapered Head Diagonal Cutter which produces a flush cut. Used for cutting component leads.

All the Xcelite cutters are ESD safe. 

Hakko

Hakko has been a well known brand in the industry for more the 70 Years and selling in the US for more than 35. They make quality products for both industrial and hobby use. 

CHP-170

This is Hakko's micro flush cutter, cuts up to 16 AWG and is one of the more cost effective cutters on this list. Great tool for general purposes and small enough to get into tight areas.
